Introducing the Montessori Method

Overview

Montessori style teaching has been a popular trend since the 1990's. This method involves education in the psychological development of children focusing on growing independent learning skills and giving the children freedom to learn by doing hands-on activities under supervision. Studies have shown that when children experience Montessori type schooling at some point in their childhood, it significantly increases their test scores and IQ scores into their adolescence. In Montessori, the children are in a sense teaching themselves which then gains confidence and self-directing and problem solving skills.
